Aaron Mark Pius
Diploma in International Arbitration
Aaron Mark Pius graduated with LL.B(Hons) from Multimedia University in 2014. He completed his chambering with Messrs Shearn Delamore & Co at Kuala Lumpur and accordingly called to the Malaysian Bar in 2016 before YAA. Lee Swee Seng (Now a Federal Court Judge). He obtained his Diploma in International Arbitration in 2017 and has since participated in numerous arbitration proceedings. He founded Mark Law Chambers in 2016 which was based in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and expanded to Cheras, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kemuning, Selangor. Throughout his practice in the west Malaysia, he has appeared in both lower Court and High Court as well as Appellate Court. He has conducted trials in all tiers of Court, including appellate proceedings.
Under his leadership, Messrs. Mark Law Chambers was nominated for Technology and Communication Law practice of the Year for 2020 by Asian Legal Business Award, organized by Thompson Reuter. At the following year of 2021, he was nominated for Young Lawyer of the Year 2021 Award, organized by Thompson Reuter. In the same year, the Firm was featured under International Magazine by Asian Law Business ‘Asian Legal Business Trailblazer’ issue, where the firms approach in Technology practice is duly recognized.
Aaron Mark does not only spent his time in the Court for legal battle but also invited to speak in the International forum as a Panelist or speaker. He has spoken as panelist in Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Hanoi, Vietnam, Singapore, and Taiwan. He acted as a Counsel for various private limited company as well as public company for all types of disputes, be it acting as a Claimant or Defendant.
He has also appeared at Radio Station for Interview such as BFM 89.9, City Plus FM and Melody FM for legal episodes. He has handled and completed more than 300 cases during his practice in the West Malaysia.
In 2022, Aaron Mark returned to his homeland and was called to the Sabah Bar upon completing his pupillage with Messrs. Lo & Yong. He then re-set up the Firm with its principal office at Aeropod Commercial Square, Kota Kinabalu. Currently, Aaron Mark is not only a Lawyer by day but also the owner and founder to Mark Baba Group Bhd.
Some Notable Engagement since 2016
- Acting for accused for the first Bombing Case in Puchong 2016 (High Court, Kuala Lumpur)
- Acting for the accused for the ‘missing pastor Raymond case’ (Magistrate Court, Petaling Jaya).
iii. Acting for Plaintiffs in the class action for damages and losses in ‘Money Game Scheme’ where the High Court allows the claim and follows by recovery of over a million from the Defendant.
- Successfully Defending Construction Company for 24 Million suits at the High Court of Kuala Lumpur.
- Acting for start-up Company, private limited Company and Public Company in commercial contract drafting with worth more than 300 Million up to date.
Aaron Mark has been a go-to person and highly sought by various corporate entity due to his experiences in litigations and corporate sector.
Chin Kok Seun
Chin Kok Seun @ Jeff graduated with LL.B (Hons) from the University of Liverpool in 2013 and has since been in the legal field for more than 8 years.
He has served in a various capacity in the legal industry with Messrs Serena Liew & Associates as a Pupil, Messrs Goh & Associates as a Paralegal and Messrs LV & Partners (KK) as an associate
Jeff was exposed mainly to contentious and non-contentious litigation matters. He is currently a Senior Associate in Messrs Mark Law Chambers, providing all kinds of legal solutions to individuals/businesses in need in Kota Kinabalu and surrounding suburban areas like Keningau, Papar, Tambunan and etc.
Some of the notable engagement since 2015:-
- Involved in the Trial and the appeal for the Defendants regarding breach of subcontract agreement in about the sum of RM69 million.
- Involved in the Trial and the appeal for Plaintiff (a Society Action) regarding the losses suffered by Plaintiff’s members as a result of the alleged conspiracy.
- Assisted the Plaintiff (Printing Company) for the Trial of assessment of
damages to claim against Defendant for breaching the contract for the sum of RM1.8 million.
His current practice is not limited to only litigation, including debt recovery, will-writing, probate& estate administration, general litigation, and matrimonial cases but also on a general conveyancing matter, the extension of the lease, sub-division of title, etc.
He believes that “tough things will never last but a tough man will”, and he is determined to guide and help all his clients resolve all the legal difficulties during their tough times.
Pius Primus
B. Jurisprudence (University of Malaya)
Diploma in International Arbitration
Pius Primus obtained his Jurisprudence from Malaya University in 2018. Before obtaining a Law Degree, he obtained his Bachelor in Forestry Science (BSc. Forestry) from University Pertanian Malaysia (Now University Putra Malaysia) in 1992 and has then serves as Enforcement Officer with Sabah Forestry Department since 1993, before his retirement in May 2023.
Prior to his retirement, he has serves as an Enforcement Officer, Raiding Officer, Investigation officer for all forestry matters in the state of Sabah. He has also been appointed and sanctioned by the Prosecution office, to act as a Prosecution Officer in criminal prosecution, relating to the forestry enactment offences. He is often referred as an expert and man of the field with over 36 years of experience in Forestry matters.
He joined Messrs. Mark Law Chambers as a Legal Strategist and Advisor. His expertise in all Forestry and Timber matters are highly sought by the firm and possibly the only expert in Sabah with both legal and field knowledge of the subject matter. With his presence in the firm, his insight has rendered to be helpful to the clients especially with the related industry.
Notable Achievement
- Prosecuting of offences under Section 23(2) Forestry Enactment where the perpetrator was sentenced to 48 Months Jailed and RM400,000.00 fine.
Datuk (Dr.) Joseph Ahlan
Datuk Dr. Joseph obtained his Degree in Forestry Science (BS.c Forestry) in 1990 and follows by a Master in Forestry Science in 1993. The firm Land Development and Conveyancing Department is headed by Datuk Dr. Joseph Ahlan who has his area of practice in Land Development, Dispute and NCR. He obtained his Degree in Forestry Science, Master as well as PHD (Doctorate Degree) for the same subject matter. he read his Law in University Malaya and later on obtained his degree. Datuk Dr. Joseph has served the State Government as a Forestry Officer for more than a decade before joining corporate sector. He then ordained as Justice of Peace, Commissioner of Oath. He was also sitting as abord of advisor to MACC (Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission Agency in Sabah.
Bong Woan Huey
Bong Woan Huey @ Abby, graduated from University of Curtin, Miri Sarawak majoring in both Management and Marketing. She joined in Mark Law Chambers as a Litigation Secretary for the firms’ Litigation Department. Prior to joining the Firm, Abby has extensive experience assisting counsel in General Litigation involving highly complex cases for trial and appellate purposes.
